Tiller, Oregon– A fast-moving wildfire, currently estimated at 200 to 300 acres, is burning near the 28000 block of Tiller Trail Highway in Douglas County, Oregon. Multiple fire agencies, including crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA), Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), Tiller Fire, Days Creek Fire Department, Milo Fire Department, South Umpqua Fire Department, and several others, are actively responding to the blaze.
The Tiller Trail Fire, driven by challenging wind conditions, has prompted Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation orders for the areas of Tiller and Drew, Oregon. Residents on Crume Ranch Lane and Devil’s Knob Lane have been instructed to evacuate immediately. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office issued the evacuation orders as the fire’s rapid growth threatens homes and property in these areas.
Ground and air resources are being utilized in the firefighting efforts, with five helicopters and an air attack team deployed to combat the flames. Smoke from the fire is making it difficult to provide precise estimates of the fire’s size, but additional resources have been ordered to support containment efforts.
In response to the fire, Jackson County Roads has announced the closure of Tiller Trail Road at the 45-mile marker entering Douglas County. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and prepare for significant delays.
This is an evolving situation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The public is urged to follow all evacuation orders and safety guidelines.
