At approximately 6:28p this evening, emergency 911 operators began receiving calls for a reported new wildfire in the northeast Medford area near MFR.



Upon arrival, initial fire crews from the Medford Fire Department (MPD) and Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) located the blaze near Lear and Stratus Way.
The fire quickly warranted a second alarm callout, which brought in additional resources to fight the blaze.
Air resources have also been requested and helicopters are being dispatched to assist.
Crews are dealing with tough weather conditions as winds are gusting to over 25mph and the temperature is in the mid 90’s with low humidity.


As of 7:00p, no evacuation notices have been issued. The fire is estimated to be between 2-3 acres.
7:23p Update: Air resources have been released and ground crews have stopped forward progression of the fire. Multiple units will stay on scene this evening to ensure the perimeter remains intact. Mop up work is expected to continue into the night.


8:00p Update: The Medford Fire Department reported that the fire is knocked down. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
