Local Residents Enjoy Winter Wonderland at Prescott Park on Roxy Ann Peak

Medford, Oregon– Throughout today, local residents from Medford and surrounding areas flocked to Prescott Park on Roxy Ann Peak in the east Medford hills to experience a winter wonderland of snow. Families were spotted sledding, snowshoeing, and hiking the snow-covered trails of the 1740-acre city park.

Prescott Park, steeped in history, is accessed from Roxy Ann Drive, off of Hillcrest Road. The park spans 1740 acres, with 200 acres originally purchased by the Lions Club and donated to the City in 1930. An additional 1500+ acres were acquired by the City via the Federal Lands to Parks Act in 1931.

One local resident, speaking to Medford Alert, shared her enjoyment of bringing her dog into the snow-covered park and exploring its vast trail system. “It’s a special place, especially when it snows!” she exclaimed. As the sunshine reflected off the newly fallen snow, more dog owners gathered, allowing their furry friends to greet each other and romp through the snow.

The park is open to vehicles the following hours:

March 1 – October 31, 7am-9pm

November 1 – February 28, 8am-5pm

With more snow in the forecast until last Sunday, the park continues to be a popular destination for family snow outings, providing endless opportunities for outdoor enjoyment and exploration in the midst of winter’s beauty.
