Region Faces Second Spectrum Disruption in Two Days

Medford, Oregon- In a deja vu scenario, a widespread Spectrum Internet outage has once again struck the region, causing significant disruptions and triggering concerns about emergency communications. The outage, initially reported late Tuesday night, is expected to be restored by 4:30 am tomorrow, marking the second consecutive day of service interruptions.

The Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) is grappling with extensive disruptions, particularly impacting Spectrum’s VoIP customers across the state. One of the most critical consequences is the potential inability for Spectrum VoIP users to connect with 911 services.

Affected individuals are urged to explore alternative means of communication. While Spectrum’s VoIP faces challenges, cell phones and text-to-911 services are reported to be functioning normally despite the broader outage. This recommendation aims to ensure that individuals in need of emergency services have accessible communication options during this outage.

Spectrum, in response to the situation, has acknowledged the issue and are actively working to rectify the problem. As of now, company representatives say the cause of the outage is vandalism.

The outage is also impacting a large number of business who rely on Spectrum internet. Several metro locations of Dutch Bros were unable to connect to customers apps this morning, for example.

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
