The Jackson County Fair Board has officially withdrawn the job offer extended to Pamela Fyock for the position of Fair Director. The decision was made after the board obtained additional information in the form of complete performance audit reports just last week.
The outcome was made with a 4 to 2 board vote in favor of revoking the offer extended to Fyock. The core reason behind this decision lies in the additional information found within the audit reports.
Fyock, the former Fair Director at Sacramento County Fair and the Tulare County Fair, faced termination after audits exposed financial irregularities and mismanagement under her tenure. The audit reports indicate that Fyock reimbursed herself approximately half a million dollars spanning both the Tulare County and Sacramento County Fairs.
According to The Sun Gazette, auditors detailed the financial discrepancies, revealing dozens of checks amounting to $256,495 from Tulare County and over 70 checks and fund transfers totaling $242,554 from the Sacramento County Fair. Investigators also stated Fyock was unable to provide documentation justifying $73,973 in reimbursements from Tulare County and $107,230 from Sacramento County.
Furthermore, auditors discovered that $20,621 in reimbursements from Tulare County reused the same receipt two and three times, raising additional concerns about the financial practices during Fyock’s tenure.
Matt Samitore, a Fair Board Member from the City of Central Point, disclosed to Medford Alert that two new Fair Board members are set to join in January. The new board will meet to discuss the appropriate course of action and determine the timing for reopening the search for a replacement Fair Director.
Samitore stated there were no comparable secondary candidates for the position, leaving the Fair Board with the task of eventually reopening the search for the next Jackson County Fair Director.
