This is an update to our previous articles regarding this incident.
Medford Police Department detectives have taken 18-year-old Joseph Larry Lopez of Grants Pass into custody on charges of Attempted Murder, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Assault in the First Degree. The charges follow a recent shooting incident that unfolded in front of Buffalo Wild Wings, leaving the victim in very serious condition at a Medford area hospital.
The incident occurred on Friday, December 1, at 11:25 p.m., when a Medford Police Officer on routine patrol near the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings (1700 Delta Waters Road) heard multiple gunshots emanating from the front of the establishment. The Officer discovered a victim lying near the front door and immediately initiated life-saving medical aid.
Witnesses observed several individuals fleeing to a vehicle, hastily driving towards Highway 62. The Officer then relayed the suspect vehicle’s description and direction of travel to fellow law enforcement officers. Responding units successfully intercepted and stopped the vehicle near Highway 62 on Bullock Road.
All occupants of the vehicle, including the suspect, were detained at the time, during a felony stop. At the time of this update, the victim remains in critical condition.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
