Rescue Operation at Crater Lake’s Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway Saves Man and Dog

Yesterday, the Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) Technical Rescue Team responded to rescue callout at the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway within Crater Lake National Park.

Authorities say a man and his dog found themselves in a perilous situation as they fell approximately 200 feet down into the caldera.

The skilled Technical Rescue Team executed a high-angle rope rescue, employing their expertise and specialized equipment to hoist the fallen duo from the caldera to safer ground above. The rescue operation was executed with precision, ensuring the safety of the victim and his dog.

The successful rescue mission was a testament to the teamwork and dedication of the JCFD3 Technical Rescue Team.
