A shooting incident unfolded in the late hours of August 5, 2023, resulting in the loss of a life and the subsequent arrest of a suspect. The Grants Pass Police Department responded to 911 reports of a shooting at approximately 11:18 PM, in the 1200 block of SW Isham.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Travis Economy lying in the front yard of the residence. Swift action was taken as officers administered immediate lifesaving care to the victim before he was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center via ambulance. Despite their efforts, Economy succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The aftermath of the incident saw the collaborative efforts of Grants Pass Police detectives and members of the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office, who promptly assisted with the investigation. Initial findings suggest that the shooting took place during a disturbance within the residence.
Authorities have since arrested and detained 22-year-old Asa Krueger in connection with the shooting. Krueger now faces charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident.
