The Public Works department has completed road repairs on East McAndrews Road between Crater Lake Avenue and Brookdale Avenue.

The new upgrades include fresh paint, one vehicle lane in each direction, bike lanes in each direction and a center turn lane. The previous configuration had two eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes, with very little room on either side of the street. The primary purpose of this project is to address safety along McAndrews Road.
As a result of these changes, residents will have better access to their homes. In an emergency situation, drivers are required to yield to emergency response vehicles by moving to the right, but often there is no place for them to move to. Since the center turn lane will be almost always clear, it enhances access for emergency response vehicles.
Authorities say that overall, the repairs on East McAndrews Road will improve safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
