MEDFORD, Ore. (May. 5, 2026) — A late-night fire in northwest Medford damaged a trailer and threatened a nearby home, displacing one resident but causing no injuries, fire officials said.
Fire crews responded around 9:20 p.m. Monday to the 3000 block of Table Rock Road, according to the Medford Fire Department. Engine 14 arrived to find a trailer fully involved in flames, with the fire spreading toward a nearby residence.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about eight minutes of arrival, preventing more significant damage to the home. No civilians or firefighters were injured.
Officials said one resident was displaced as a result of the fire.
Preliminary findings indicate the fire likely started from the use of an outdoor fire pit, where embers ignited nearby combustible materials. The flames spread from pallets and other items to the recreational vehicle, causing extensive damage to the trailer and minor damage to the exterior of the house.
As warmer and drier conditions approach, fire officials are urging residents to take precautions to reduce fire risk. Recommendations include using a screen over wood-burning outdoor fires, opting for approved propane fire pits instead of wood-fueled options, and keeping combustible materials at least 15 feet away from open flames. Officials also advised properly discarding cigarettes, ash and embers in non-combustible containers filled with water.
The fire response included assistance from the Medford Police Department, Mercy Flights Inc. and Jackson County Fire District 3.
