One Dead, One Injured in Late-Night Shooting in Downtown Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (May. 6, 2026) — One person was killed and another injured in a late-night shooting Tuesday in downtown Portland, police said.

Officers with the Portland Police Bureau’s Central Precinct responded at about 10:36 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Southwest Naito Parkway and Southwest Harvey Milk Street. When officers arrived, they found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said officers at the scene performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. One victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, while the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect or suspects fled the area, and no arrests had been made as of early Wednesday.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Detective Division, including the Homicide Unit, is investigating the shooting.

Road closures were in effect during the investigation. Southwest Naito Parkway was closed between Southwest Oak Street and Southwest Harvey Milk Street, and Southwest Oak Street was closed between Southwest Naito Parkway and Southwest 2nd Avenue.
