EAGLE POINT, Ore. (Jul. 23, 2026) — Two Klamath Falls residents were arrested Thursday morning after police say they burglarized an Eagle Point business, prompting a multi-agency search that included a drone, a K-9 team and a search warrant as investigators work to determine whether the suspects are connected to other property crimes across Southern Oregon.
The Eagle Point Police Department responded at approximately 5:45 a.m. Thursday to a burglar alarm at the Purple Parrot, located at 10546 D Old Highway 62.
When the first officer arrived, two people were seen leaving the area. Police attempted to stop them, but they fled on an electric scooter. Additional deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist as officers confirmed the business had been burglarized.
A perimeter was established while officers searched the building for additional suspects. Eagle Point police deployed a drone, and a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team assisted in the search.
Investigators later found 37-year-old Jennifer L. Grinnals hiding near Harnish Wayside Park. Through the investigation, officers determined the second suspect was likely headed to a vehicle parked near Hillside Elementary School at Old Schoolyard Park. Officers located 39-year-old Kenneth R. Banes sitting inside the vehicle and took him into custody without incident.
Police said both suspects are residents of Klamath Falls.
According to investigators, Banes entered the Purple Parrot through the roof after allegedly attempting to cut communication lines serving businesses in the complex. While inside, police believe he fell through the building’s drop ceiling, suffering non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated at Providence Medford Medical Center before being booked into the Jackson County Jail.
Banes faces charges of first-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree theft and possession of methamphetamine. He was also lodged on a probation violation detainer after officers determined he was on probation in Klamath Falls for burglary, delivery of a controlled substance, theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Grinnals was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary.
Investigators said the suspects had driven from Klamath Falls to Eagle Point before the burglary.
The break-in caused extensive damage to the business, with investigators estimating losses well in excess of $1,000. The business remained closed for several hours while officers processed the scene and collected evidence.
An Eagle Point police detective assigned to the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE) Team assisted with the investigation. Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the vehicle where Banes was found. Evidence recovered during the search is being compared with evidence from other burglary investigations throughout the region.
The investigation remains active as detectives work with other law enforcement agencies to determine whether the suspects may be linked to additional property crimes in Southern Oregon.
