Medford Player Lands $2 Million Powerball Win in Lucky Drawing

SALEM, Ore. (May. 3, 2026) — A recent Powerball drawing delivered a wave of big wins across the country, including four high-value tickets sold in Oregon, lottery officials said.

Two jackpot-winning tickets worth $143 million were sold in Kansas and Indiana. Nationwide, nearly 90 tickets won prizes of $1 million or $2 million across 20 states.

In Oregon, four winning tickets were sold at locations spanning the state:

• $2 million in Coos Bay

• $2 million in Creswell

• $1 million in Gresham

• $2 million in Medford

Retailers that sell Oregon Lottery tickets also benefit from major wins. A store that sells a $1 million ticket, for example, earns a $10,000 bonus commission.

The wins add to Oregon’s history with the game. In 2024, Cheng “Charlie” Saephan, his wife and a friend claimed a $1.3 billion jackpot — the largest Powerball prize ever won in the state. The biggest jackpot in Powerball history remains the $2.04 billion prize won by a California player in 2022.

Oregon Lottery officials advise players to sign the back of their tickets to secure ownership and recommend consulting a financial professional in the event of a major win. Players have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Since launching ticket sales on April 25, 1985, the Oregon Lottery has generated nearly $17.8 billion for public programs, including economic development, education, state parks, veteran services and watershed restoration.
