MEDFORD, Ore (Feb. 15, 2026) — A prolonged winter storm is expected to bring widespread snowfall and hazardous travel conditions to the Rogue Valley and surrounding higher elevations beginning late Monday night and lasting through Thursday morning, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service office in Medford has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas below 2,000 feet and a Winter Storm Warning for elevations above 2,000 feet. Both alerts are in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Thursday.
Under the Winter Weather Advisory, snow is expected to accumulate between 3 and 6 inches in valley locations below 2,000 feet. Communities included in the advisory area are Medford, Ashland, Gold Hill, Jacksonville, Applegate, Shady Cove and Eagle Point. Portions of Interstate 5 and highways 140, 238, 62 and 234 are also expected to be affected.
Above 2,000 feet, forecasters warn of heavier snowfall totals ranging from 6 to 12 inches under the Winter Storm Warning. That includes the communities of Prospect and Butte Falls, as well as portions of Interstate 5 and highways 140, 238, 62 and 227. Jacksonville Hill on Highway 238 at 2,150 feet is specifically highlighted as an area likely to see significant impacts.

The heaviest snowfall is expected late Monday night into Tuesday morning, potentially creating rapidly deteriorating road conditions. Hazardous travel is likely during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, and officials caution that travel could become very difficult or even impossible at times, particularly in higher elevations.
Snow-covered roads, reduced visibility and slick conditions are expected throughout the advisory and warning period. In addition to major highways, secondary and rural roads may become treacherous, especially overnight when temperatures drop and snow accumulates more quickly.
The extended duration of the storm — nearly 60 hours — increases the likelihood of accumulating snow on untreated roadways and in residential neighborhoods. Drivers in valley locations could see periods of steady snowfall, while higher terrain may experience heavier bands capable of producing several inches in a short time.
Officials urge motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling. Drivers are encouraged to check current road conditions by calling 511 before heading out. Those who must travel are advised to carry an emergency kit that includes an extra flashlight, food and water in case they become stranded.
Forecasters say additional updates will be issued as the storm system develops and conditions evolve across southern Oregon.
