SALEM, Ore. (Nov 22, 2025) – A domestic violence shooting Friday evening led to a SWAT response and the arrest of a Salem man after police say he shot another man in the face before barricading himself inside a residence.
Salem patrol officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Ferndell Street NE after a 911 caller reported a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old man in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He told officers he had been shot in front of a nearby home. Medics transported him to a hospital, where he was treated and is expected to recover.
Police surrounded the residence while attempting to contact the suspect, and the Salem SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were brought in to take over. Negotiators issued repeated announcements urging the suspect to come out.
Authorities say the suspect, a resident of Salem, ultimately surrendered peacefully without further incident.
He was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, along with several unrelated warrants. The investigation remains ongoing.
