Post-Election Night Work Begins as Certification Date Approaches

MEDFORD, Ore. (Nov. 5, 2025) — With all 17 precincts in Jackson County reporting, election officials say ballots continue to be reviewed and processed as part of post-election verification procedures.

According to Jackson County Clerk Christine Walker, approximately 432 ballots — representing about 0.5% of the total cast — are currently in “challenge status” due to issues such as missing voter signatures or signature mismatches.

“These counts will change daily as voters cure their signature issues and as we process ballots postmarked by Election Day,” Walker said.

Voters with unsigned ballot envelopes are being sent an attestation form replicating the required signature language. To have their ballots counted, voters must sign and return the attestation by mail or in person within 21 days of the election. For voters whose signatures did not match county records, letters have been mailed explaining how to correct the discrepancy.

Election officials will also continue reviewing ballots received from the U.S. Postal Service that were postmarked by Election Day. Under Oregon law, those ballots can be counted if received by the seventh day following the election. Because Veterans Day falls on that date this year, the deadline has been extended to the eighth day after Election Day.

Walker said the next results update will be posted on Nov. 13, with final certification required no later than Monday, Dec. 1.

As of Wednesday morning, voter turnout is at around 28%, with totals expected to rise slightly as additional ballots are verified and accepted. As of today, approximately 18,647 ballots have been counted. There were 66,392 residents of Medford, Gold Hill, and Rogue River that were eligible to vote for the two measures.

“We are working steadfast to provide accurate and timely results to the public we humbly serve,” Walker said.
