Wind Advisory in Effect for Medford Metro and Southwest Oregon

Medford, Oregon- The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for southwest Oregon, warning residents to prepare for strong gusts and possible power outages beginning Tuesday afternoon.

The advisory, classified as moderate severity with a possible threat to life or property, takes effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters say southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected across Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas counties, particularly in higher terrain and wind-aligned valleys such as the Rogue Valley from Ashland to Medford.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result,” the weather service said.

Residents are urged to take precautions within the next hour and to secure outdoor items ahead of the storm’s arrival. Motorists should also use caution, especially those driving high-profile vehicles or traveling through mountain passes.
