Medford, Oregon– A new, more detailed, conceptual rendering has been unveiled for the Creekside Quarter Development Project, highlighting an ambitious vision to transform downtown Medford into a vibrant, multi-use destination.
The large-scale redevelopment plan includes a state-of-the-art conference center, upscale hotel, multi-purpose stadium, retail and office spaces, residential housing, restaurants, and a scenic riverwalk. A new parking structure with more than 400 spaces is also planned to accommodate the anticipated growth in visitors and activity downtown.
“The Creekside Quarter project aims to revitalize Downtown Medford and the Hawthorne Park area, turning it into a lively district that serves both residents and visitors alike,” said Eli Matthews, President and CEO of The Chamber of Medford and Jackson County. “These new renderings illustrate a vibrant community space that not only supports local businesses but also attracts tourism to Medford, providing significant economic benefits.”
City officials say the new parking structure will play a key role in increasing accessibility and boosting connectivity throughout the downtown area. The additional parking is expected to alleviate congestion and make it easier for residents and visitors to explore nearby restaurants, entertainment venues, and public spaces—further stimulating the local economy.
The project is closely tied to Measure 15-238, which Medford voters will decide in the upcoming November election. The measure would authorize a Transient Lodging Tax (TLT) increase of up to 2% on overnight stays in local hotels, motels, and short-term rentals—raising the current rate from 11% to a maximum of 13%.
By voting YES on Measure 15-238, residents would help fund community enhancements without any new property, utility, or sales taxes. The TLT increase would only take effect once a private-public partnership is finalized.
“This is not just a series of buildings; Creekside Quarter represents our aspiration for a vibrant Medford where community and commerce come together,” said Medford City Councilor Kevin Stine. “The development will create a central gathering place and foster new experiences that enhance the quality of life for everyone in our city.”
City Councilor Nick Card echoed that sentiment, adding, “The proposed Conference Center will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, projected to attract thousands of visitors and energize local hotels, restaurants, and small businesses. The project embodies fiscal responsibility through substantial private investment, demonstrating confidence in Medford’s potential.”
Nearly 90% of the project’s funding is expected to come from private investment, reinforcing the collaborative approach between the city and the business community.
