
Eagle Point, Oregon- An armed suspect was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon during an officer-involved shooting in Eagle Point, authorities said.
According to the Eagle Point Police Department (EPPD), officers responded around 12:13 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance. The suspect was later contacted near the Covered Bridge, where the encounter turned violent.
“The armed suspect is deceased,” the department said in a statement. “An EPPD officer was injured during the incident and was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.”
Officials said there are no additional suspects and no ongoing threat to the public. Law enforcement remained on scene Wednesday at East Main Street and South Shasta Avenue as the investigation continued.
Authorities urged the public to avoid the area, noting several road closures: W. Main St. at Royal Ave., E. Main St. at Tabor Ave., S. Shasta Ave. at Loto St., and N. Shasta Ave. at Neva St. The closures will remain in place until the investigation is complete.
Oregon State Police (OSP) has taken the lead in the investigation, with support from the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. “There is no additional information available for release at this time,” officials said.
