Grants Pass, Oregon- A 22-year-old man wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant out of Texas was arrested in Josephine County last week after a joint operation between the U.S. Marshals Service and local authorities.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said detectives were contacted Aug. 12 by the Marshals Service about Gabriel Isaac Frank Harrison, who was wanted in connection with multiple sex crimes. The charges stem from an Oregon State Police Major Crimes investigation, according to officials.
Investigators developed information that Harrison was living in Josephine County. Detectives from the sheriff’s office and members of the Marshals Service began working together to confirm his whereabouts.
On Aug. 13, the Marshals Service conducted surveillance on a residence linked to Harrison. Authorities said deputies and federal agents moved in once his location was confirmed. Harrison was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the Josephine County Adult Jail on a nationwide extradition warrant issued out of Texas. The charges listed in the warrant include sexual performance by a child, online solicitation of a minor during school hours, and two counts of injury to a minor.
Officials said Harrison will remain in custody until extradition proceedings are complete. Once transferred to Texas, he will face prosecution in the jurisdiction where the alleged victim resides.
Extradition cases typically involve coordination between multiple states and agencies. Once a fugitive is located, the arresting jurisdiction holds the individual until arrangements are made for transport to the state where charges originated. Federal partners such as the U.S. Marshals Service frequently assist local law enforcement in tracking fugitives across state lines.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation into Harrison remains ongoing. No additional details have been released.
