Ashland, Oregon- A Jackson County grand jury has indicted a man in connection with a shooting on Interstate 5 near Ashland that occurred early Saturday, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Devanta Bell Mader, 29, faces multiple charges including Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, four counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Reckless Driving.
The indictment, filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, stems from an active shooter incident that disrupted traffic along the busy interstate corridor on July 19.
Mader remains in custody at the Jackson County Jail after prosecutors secured a $1 million bail at a Monday court hearing. His arraignment on the indictment will be scheduled later this week.
District Attorney Patrick Green is prosecuting the case. Officials say no further information will be released while the criminal proceedings are underway.

All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
