


Near Grants Pass, Oregon- A fast-moving wildfire in Josephine County has triggered evacuation alerts and a large-scale firefighting response Thursday evening as crews battle the blaze from both the ground and air.
As of 10:30am today, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) reported the Board Shanty Fire had burned an estimated 300 acres.

ODF said firefighters are continuing an aggressive initial attack to contain the fire, with additional aircraft arriving on scene from Medford Air-tanker bases to support ground crews in suppressing the flames.
Residents are urged to stay alert to official updates and check their evacuation zone status online.
No structures have been confirmed lost, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
ODF UPDATE, 9:10 PM: The fire is now estimated to be 150 acres. Aircraft are continuing to fly until dark, with additional retardant drops helping to slow fire growth.
A large Rogue Valley contingent of firefighters from numerous agencies are engaged on the fire and protecting structures. Wildland resources from ODF and local contractors continue in an aggressive initial attack and will be engaged overnight.
Additional resources from ODF CIMT 3, assigned to the Grizzly Complex, are continuing to arrive and engage as well.
