Authorities Search for Missing Gold Hill Man Last Seen Driving Truck with Dog

Gold Hill, Oregon- Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 73-year-old Gold Hill man who has been missing since the evening of July 14.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), Roland “Rolly” Renfro left his home in the 1500 block of Rogue River Highway in Gold Hill and was last seen driving eastbound in his silver 2015 Ford F-350 pickup. The truck bears a personalized Oregon license plate reading ELK-RNR. A photo of the vehicle has been circulated by authorities, but the trailer typically towed by the truck was not attached at the time of his disappearance.

Renfro is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 320 pounds. He is bald, has hazel eyes, and was accompanied by his small pug/terrier mix dog when he left home.

Family members and deputies say Renfro has known medical conditions that require daily medications, though it is unclear whether he has those medications with him. He is an avid outdoorsman and is believed to be in a rural area somewhere in Jackson County.

Search efforts by JCSO, family, and friends have so far focused on the Gold Hill, Butte Falls, and Prospect areas but have not turned up any leads.

Anyone with information on Renfro’s whereabouts or sightings of his vehicle is urged to contact the Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) Non-Emergency Dispatch line at (541) 776-7206 and reference JCSO Case #25-3740.

UPDATE: Authorities say that Roland “Rolly” Renfro has been located, and is safe. According to JCSO, Roland was located by a citizen stuck in his vehicle on a rural Road off of East Evans Creek. He is safe and a Mercy Flights ambulance took him to a local hospital for medical treatment. Officials also stated that his dog was located safe.
