Medford, Oregon- The City of Medford has shared an early-stage concept for a potential downtown redevelopment project known as Creekside Quarter, a privately initiated vision aimed at revitalizing the eastern area of city’s urban core.
The conceptual plan outlines a diverse mix of land uses, including a hotel, urban residential infill, multistory retail and office space, an elevated parking structure, a conference center, and a multi-purpose outdoor sports and event stadium. The proposal also features the restoration of Bear Creek and the revitalization of adjacent public park areas.
According to city officials, the project reflects the Medford City Council’s long-standing commitment to fostering downtown as a vibrant hub for economic development. It builds upon prior planning efforts, including the 2024 Conference Center Feasibility Study, and signals increasing private-sector interest in downtown investment opportunities.
As part of the evolving vision, the Eugene Emeralds—a High-A Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the San Francisco Giants—have expressed interest in Medford as a potential new home. The city is exploring how a stadium could accommodate both professional-level baseball and community events, with the Emeralds possibly serving as a primary tenant.
At this stage, no funding has been secured, and no formal agreements have been made. City leaders say they are currently examining public-private partnership options to support the concept’s development. At this early stage, the development is believed to mostly be comprised of private investment funds.
The Creekside Quarter plan remains preliminary, with no decisions finalized and no development timelines yet established. In the months ahead, the City of Medford plans to engage with potential partners, assess feasibility, and ensure that future planning aligns with community priorities.
Officials emphasized that public input and transparency will be key as discussions move forward. Sharing the concept early, they said, is intended to provide residents with a clear and accurate picture of what is currently under consideration.
