MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 12, 2026) — An 18-year-old Medford man was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly stabbing his stepfather during a domestic incident in south Medford, according to the Medford Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 1:03 p.m. June 12 to the 1800 block of Greenwood Street following reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they encountered what police described as a chaotic scene and found a 40-year-old man on the sidewalk near the residence suffering from a stab wound to his upper arm. Officers immediately rendered aid, applying a tourniquet to control the bleeding.

Additional officers contacted the suspect inside the residence and took him into custody without incident. Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Trenton Furrey.

Investigators determined that the victim was Furrey’s stepfather and that the two are related. Detectives with the Medford Police Department responded to assist with the investigation.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

As part of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and collected additional evidence related to the case.

Furrey was later interviewed at the Medford Police Department before being lodged at the Jackson County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing but emphasized that there is no continuing threat to the public.
