GLIDE, Ore. (Jun. 12, 2026) — A 22-year-old Glide man was killed Friday morning in a head-on collision involving a passenger vehicle and a log truck on Little River Road east of Roseburg, authorities said.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded shortly after 7:30 a.m. June 12 to the area between mileposts 12 and 13 near Woodview Drive following reports of a serious crash.

Preliminary information indicates that John Metianu, 22, of Glide, was driving a silver 2009 Hyundai Elantra northwest on Little River Road when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle and entered the oncoming lane.

Investigators said the Hyundai collided head-on with a southbound log truck driven by Jeffrey Johnson, 54, of Roseburg.

Metianu was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was not injured in the crash.

Officials said there were no initial indications that intoxicants were a factor in the collision.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Glide Rural Fire Protection District and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said next of kin notifications have been made. The crash remains under investigation.
