Medford, Oregon- The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Wind Advisory for multiple counties in southern Oregon, warning of strong southwest winds expected to impact the region from 10 a.m. Monday to 1 a.m. PST Tuesday.
Wind Forecast and Affected Areas
Winds are forecast to reach sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. Areas under the advisory include Jackson, Josephine, central and eastern Douglas, and eastern Curry counties, affecting communities such as Medford, Ashland, Shady Cove, Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Roseburg, Sutherlin, and Toketee Falls, along with surrounding areas.
Potential Impacts
The National Weather Service warns that gusty winds could cause property damage and power outages. Loose outdoor objects may be blown around, and tree damage is likely. Motorists—especially those driving high-profile vehicles—should exercise extra caution, as strong winds could create hazardous driving conditions.
Safety Precautions
Officials urge residents to take the following precautionary measures:
• Secure outdoor objects such as patio furniture, decorations, and trash bins.
• Prepare for possible power outages by charging electronic devices and having emergency supplies ready.
• Use extra caution while driving, particularly on open highways and bridges.
The advisory remains in effect until early Tuesday morning.
