Suspects Arrested Following Gunfire Incident in SW Medford

Medford, Oregon- Advanced law enforcement technology played a crucial role in the swift arrest of two suspects following reports of gunfire late Saturday night.

On February 22 at approximately 11:58 p.m., Medford Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of Archer Dr. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and observing a vehicle speeding away from the scene. Upon arrival, officers found bullet impacts on a residence, but no injuries were reported.

Utilizing in-car video and automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology, officers quickly identified the suspect vehicle as a silver Chevrolet Impala. This information was uploaded into the Flock camera system, a network of nearly 25 cameras throughout Medford that alerts officers when flagged vehicles pass by.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on February 23, Flock technology detected the Chevrolet Impala near N. Foothills Rd. and Hillcrest. Medford Police, along with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), swiftly converged on the area. Deputies soon located the vehicle near N. Foothills Rd. and Delta Waters Rd. and deployed preemptive spike strips, leading the driver to stop without incident.

A second vehicle, believed to be traveling with the Impala, was also stopped by JCSO. A 17-year-old male passenger from this vehicle attempted to walk away but was quickly apprehended. Officers found him in possession of both a rifle and a handgun.

The driver of the Impala, identified as 24-year-old Cameron J. Tinsen of Medford, was taken into custody and lodged at the Jackson County Jail. The 17-year-old male suspect was booked at the Juvenile Detention Center. Both individuals face charges including Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Reckless Endangering, and Attempted Assault in the First Degree. Authorities indicated that additional charges may be pending.

The Medford Police Department expressed gratitude to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and emphasized the critical role of shared law enforcement technology in solving crimes quickly.

Officials say this case highlights how automated surveillance tools, license plate readers, and interagency cooperation are increasingly vital to modern policing efforts.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident and encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Medford Police Department.
