Salem, Oregon- Oregonians placed more than 456,000 bets through the Oregon Lottery’s DraftKings Sportsbook during Sunday’s Super Bowl, setting a record for the highest number of wagers for a single sporting event. Total wagers reached $8.26 million, with the average bet amounting to $18.11.
According to Kerry Hemphill, Oregon Lottery sports betting products manager, the event generated more than $2.8 million in revenue for the state, the highest for a single sports event since the launch of sports betting. “Prop bets performed strong, and the Eagles’ overwhelming win was unexpected,” Hemphill said.
Players had more than 1,100 proposition bets to choose from, including wagers on the MVP, the first touchdown, and other game outcomes. Among notable prop bet results:
• On the coin toss, 9,375 bets were placed, with 5,120 winning on the Chiefs to win the toss.
• Out of 8,979 bets on the Gatorade color, 981 correctly picked yellow.
The largest win of the day came from a Eugene resident, who won $49,370 from a $25 bet on a 13-leg multi-sport parlay, concluding with the Eagles covering -6.5 points.
The Oregon Lottery reported a nearly 9% increase in unique, active players compared to last year’s Super Bowl. In 2024, players placed 424,812 bets totaling $7.7 million. Online sports betting through the Oregon Lottery began in October 2019.
