Medford, Oregon- The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory and two Winter Storm Warnings for portions of Southern Oregon, forecasting potentially hazardous conditions across the region.

Wind Advisory Details

Timing: From 1 PM Tuesday to 7 AM PST Wednesday. (EXPIRED)

Affected Areas: Central Douglas County, Eastern Douglas County Foothills, and Jackson County, including Medford, Roseburg, Ashland, Canyonville, Jacksonville, and surrounding communities.

Forecast:

• South winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

• Impacted roadways include Interstate 5 and Highways 199, 140, 138, 62, and 42.

Expected Impacts:

Strong winds may disrupt travel, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and could damage tree limbs, potentially causing isolated power outages. The NWS advises securing outdoor objects and exercising caution while driving.

Winter Storm Warning Details

First Warning:

Timing: Until 10 PM PST Monday. (EXPIRED)

Affected Areas: Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades, including Howard Prairie, Lake of the Woods, and Siskiyou Summit on Interstate 5.

Forecast:

• Moderate to heavy snow with additional accumulations up to 5 inches.

• Winds gusting up to 35 mph.

Second Warning:

Timing: From 4 PM Tuesday to 4 PM PST Wednesday. (EXPIRED)

Affected Areas: Southern Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains above 4,000 feet, encompassing Jackson and Klamath Counties.

Forecast:

• Heavy snow with total accumulations between 6 and 16 inches.

• South winds of 40 to 50 mph with gusts reaching 70 mph.

Expected Impacts:

Travel could become difficult to impossible, with blowing snow reducing visibility. Strong winds may cause tree damage and additional power outages. Hazardous road conditions could impact commutes on Monday evening and Tuesday morning, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
