
Douglas County, Oregon- Oregon State Police seized approximately 10 pounds of suspected fentanyl during a recent traffic stop in Douglas County.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, around 11 a.m., an Oregon State Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 5. According to police, the stop was initially made due to traffic violations. During the interaction, the trooper noted indicators of potential criminal activity and requested permission to search the vehicle.
The search led to the discovery of 9.2 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder. The driver, Johana Gonzalez Castillo, 27, and passenger, Bayron Enamorado Manueles, 26, both from Oakland, California, were arrested. They face charges related to the possession and delivery of fentanyl and were lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
The case remains under investigation. No further details are available at this time.
The operation was part of the Oregon State Police-Domestic Highway Enforcement (OSP-DHE) Initiative, which targets drug trafficking along Oregon’s highways. The initiative receives support from the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, a counterdrug initiative funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). This program provides funding and resources to multi-agency drug enforcement efforts across the region.
