Central Point, Oregon- A townhall, featuring Rep. Cliff Bentz, held at the Jackson County Expo fairgrounds this morning was briefly interrupted by a disturbance caused by two individuals. The event, which took place with the presence of Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies, experienced an unexpected disruption when two subjects began yelling, causing concern and disturbing the public.
The incident occurred around 10:13 AM, prompting an immediate response from JCSO deputies who were already on site. The deputies detained and removed the disruptive individuals for disorderly conduct, aiming to restore order and ensure the safety of attendees. Following the disturbance, the event organizer chose not to press charges at the time, leading to the release of the two individuals.
In addition to the two subjects detained for disorderly conduct, a third individual was trespassed from the event. All three individuals departed from the fairgrounds without further incident.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. No further details have been released at this time.
This morning’s townhall was able to continue following the resolution of the disruption. Local authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety during such events and ensuring that the right to peaceful assembly is respected.
The JCSO has not indicated whether additional security measures will be implemented for future townhall meetings at the Jackson County Expo or other public venues. Authorities also did not elaborate on the protesters messaging during the disruption.
