Central Point, Oregon- The 2024 Jackson County Fair concluded on a high note, marking a significant success with notable increases in both attendance and revenue. Preliminary figures show a 12.21% surge in gate admissions compared to 2023, with Friday being the busiest day, witnessing an over 14% increase in visitors.
“What an amazing week it was! The Fair was a huge success. You could hear people having a great time (screaming) in the carnival as you walked through the gates,” shared Rob Holmbeck, Jackson County Expo and Fair Manager. “The volunteers and Expo Team rose to every opportunity put before them.”
A highlight of the Fair was the 4-H/FFA festivities, which set new records. Local businesses and individuals enthusiastically supported the efforts of Jackson County youth, leading to unprecedented outcomes in the Spring Lamb and Fair Swine, Poultry, and Beef Auctions, which collectively raised an impressive $2,988,866. Notably, the Champion Turkey fetched an extraordinary $410 per pound.
The Fair’s overall revenue exceeded $1.1 million, significantly contributing to the operational budget of the Expo, with some revenue still being processed. Among the standout attractions were the four main concerts featuring performances by 38 Special, Josh Turner, Clay Walker, and Queen Nation, which drew large crowds and added to the event’s success.
Despite encountering three emergency weather situations, including windstorms and a lightning storm, the Expo’s emergency procedures were effectively implemented, ensuring the safety of all attendees. “I can’t say enough about the leadership within our incident command structure. When incidents occurred, procedures were followed, and everyone was kept safe,” remarked Holmbeck.
In the upcoming weeks, officials remark the final revenue and expenses will be tallied, rounding off an exceptional year for the Jackson County Fair.
