Early Morning Fire Destroys Rural SW Medford Area Home

Medford, Oregon- Early this morning, emergency responders from Ashland Fire, Jackson County Fire District 5, and ODF Southwest Oregon District, were called to a substantial structure fire in the 5000 block of Pioneer Road in rural southwest Medford. The incident was reported just after 4:45 am.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully engulfed house with flames spreading to a nearby two-story garage and surrounding vegetation. Crews worked quickly to protect the garage and prevent further damage to nearby property. ODF teams conducted thorough checks for spot fires to ensure containment of the incident. Mercy Flights Inc. provided standby medical and rehabilitation support for firefighters.

Traffic management support was provided by Phoenix Oregon Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office to facilitate emergency operations.

Unfortunately, despite efforts to contain the fire, the residence suffered extensive damage and is considered a total loss. The Southern Oregon Public Safety Chaplains are currently assisting the affected resident by offering support and necessary resources.

Authorities say there were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. At this time, no additional information is available.
