Crews Respond to Fires in New Hope Area of Josephine County

Josephine County, Oregon– Fire crews in the New Hope area of Josephine County were kept busy over the past few days with two significant fire incidents.

On June 14 at 5:00 PM, Rural Metro Fire crews from the Williams Highway Station, along with the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Southwest Oregon District, were dispatched to a large vehicle fire on Stringer Gap Road. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fully involved truck camper that had been abandoned in a turnout for several days. The fire had spread to a small portion of the wildland, covering approximately 1/100th of an acre. The teams quickly contained and extinguished both the vehicle fire and the wildland spread. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The following day, on June 15 at 12:00 PM, Rural Metro Fire and Grants Pass Fire responded to a structure fire in the 1800 block of Lonnon Road. Crews arriving at the scene observed smoke emanating from an exterior wall of the building. Firefighters had to dismantle the siding to access and extinguish the fire, preventing further damage to the structure.

Both incidents highlight the responsiveness and effectiveness of the fire crews in managing fire-related emergencies in the area.

At this time, the fires are under investigation. There were no reported injuries from these incidents.
