Medford, Oregon– The Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD) is inviting the community to provide feedback on proposed service changes designed to elevate transit accessibility and efficiency in the Rogue Valley region. These adjustments are slated for discussion at the upcoming RVTD Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 28th.
Scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2024, the proposed modifications target Routes 61, 21, and 27, each tailored to address specific needs identified through careful analysis and community input.
Proposed Changes Overview:
Route 61: RVTD’s proposal for Route 61 centers on converting it into a commuter route, offering seven daily trips to enhance operational efficiency. By streamlining stops and integrating Amy’s Kitchen as a new bus stop while excluding areas already serviced by Route 21, RVTD aims to provide a more direct connection to RCC’s Table Rock Campus, optimizing convenience for commuters and students alike.
Route 21: Under the proposed adjustments, Route 21 is set to transition to a 40-minute schedule, leveraging two buses to achieve a 20-minute service frequency along the route. This move is poised to enhance accessibility and convenience for riders, ensuring more timely and reliable transit options.
Route 27: Recognizing the importance of restoring Route 27 to its full-service capacity post-COVID, RVTD proposes a return to 30-minute service intervals, complemented by slight schedule adjustments to bolster on-time performance. As a vital crosstown route linking with eight other routes in Medford, this enhancement is poised to facilitate quicker transfers and streamline transit experiences for passengers.
Opportunity for Public Input:
Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the public comment process by attending the RVTD Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 28th at 5:30 pm. Alternatively, individuals can submit their comments via email to RVTD’s Planning and Strategic Programs Manager, Paige West, at pwest@rvtd.org.
