MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 20, 2026) — A large emergency response was dispatched to Sportsman’s Warehouse in northeast Medford on Saturday morning following reports of a possible shooting inside the store.
At approximately 9:54 a.m., multiple Medford Police Department units, three Medford Fire Department units, and at least one Mercy Flights ambulance responded to the retailer located in the Delta Center shopping complex.
A witness told Medford Alert News that at least one gunshot was heard inside the store prior to customers and employees evacuating the building. The circumstances surrounding the reported gunshot have not yet been confirmed by authorities.
Law enforcement officers quickly secured the area and remained on scene Saturday morning conducting an investigation. Officials have not released information regarding potential injuries or what led to the incident.
Authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community at this time.
Traffic in the immediate area may be impacted as investigators continue their work.

UPDATE: The Medford Police Department released the following information.
At approximately 9:52 a.m. today (6/20), Medford Police officers responded to a report of shots fired at Sportsman’s Warehouse.
The first officer arrived on scene at 9:55 a.m., within three minutes of the initial call. Officers secured the area and conducted an investigation.
The investigation determined the incident was a suicide. One individual is deceased, and next of kin have been notified.
At no time was there a physical threat to patrons or employees inside the store, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
