Exploring Transportation Solutions for South Stage Road at I-5

Medford, Oregon- In a pivotal move to address current travel challenges and prepare for future growth, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the City of Medford have joined forces to evaluate potential transportation improvements along Interstate 5 (I-5) between the Phoenix interchange (Exit 24) and the South Medford interchange (Exit 27).

Current Roadway Challenges:
Presently, a three-mile stretch of I-5 and Bear Creek lacks local east-west roads, forcing drivers to take inconvenient out-of-direction trips. This results in extended travel times, putting stress on area interchanges and local roads, leading to congestion and safety concerns. With planned development and growth on the horizon, addressing these challenges becomes imperative.

Comprehensive Evaluation:
ODOT and the City of Medford are actively exploring various transportation enhancements to the existing system. Options under consideration include potential new overpasses or interchanges, with a specific focus on South Stage Road. Additionally, non-motorized improvements are being weighed to create a holistic and efficient transportation network.
