$50,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Medford

As the Powerball jackpot reaches near unprecedented levels, an Oregon player is celebrating a million-dollar win in Mill City. With the jackpot now standing as the second-largest in Powerball history at an estimated $1.725 billion, the excitement is palpable.

In Monday’s Powerball drawing, Oregon players also secured three smaller tier wins, adding to the state’s growing list of lucky winners. These included a $150,000 prize for a player in Bend, as well as $50,000 wins for players in Medford and Eugene.

Since the jackpot run began on July 22, Oregon has witnessed $7.1 million in Powerball prizes, making it a significant streak for the state. Remarkably, this marks the first time that two consecutive jackpot runs have culminated in billion-dollar jackpots within the Powerball game.

Heidi Quiring, Oregon Lottery’s Player Services Manager, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Record-breaking Powerball jackpots create excitement, and it’s especially satisfying when we see significant, smaller prizes going to players across Oregon. From trips to cars, our winners come in with dreams about how to spend their prize.”

According to lottery officials, it’s not just the winners who benefit from Powerball. Approximately a third of the game’s sales contribute to various state beneficiaries, supporting economic development, education, veteran services, state parks, and more. Additionally, retailers who sell lottery tickets enjoy commissions from increased ticket sales and bonus payments for lower-tier wins. For instance, an Oregon retailer who sells a $1 million ticket earns a $10,000 bonus.

Powerball, a multi-state jackpot game, is operated by 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. While the current jackpot is eyecatching, the largest prize ever won in Oregon was a $340 million jackpot in 2005.

The Oregon Lottery reminds all players to sign the back of their tickets to ensure they can claim their prize. In the event of a jackpot win, players are encouraged to consult with a trusted financial planner or similar professional to develop a plan for managing their winnings. Winners have up to a year to claim their prize, so dreams can become realities at a comfortable pace.
