In the early hours of October 1, at 01:23 a.m., the Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) 911 dispatched the Medford Fire Department, along with units from Jackson County Fire District 3 and Jackson County Fire District 5, to an apartment fire at 900 Siskiyou Blvd, just east of downtown.
Upon arrival, fire crews were met with a fully working fire inside one of the apartment units. Several crews began to fight the incident, while nearby Medford Police units alerted neighboring units as a precaution. A total of ten fire units were dispatched to the fire. Some fire units remained on scene for nearly 3 1/2 hours to ensure overall safety.
The fire was determined to have originated in a dryer vent within the affected apartment unit. Despite the challenging circumstances, the firefighters successfully containing the blaze to that specific unit, preventing its spread to neighboring residences.

Two occupants who were inside the apartment at the time of the incident were treated at the scene by first responders and subsequently transported by Mercy Flights to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Fortunately, both individuals are now in stable condition and have been released from the hospital.
In the wake of the fire, the Fire Department Chaplains have begun working closely with the Red Cross to provide support to the occupants who have been displaced by this unfortunate event. Their efforts aim to ensure that those affected receive the necessary assistance during this challenging time.
