Pacific Power Restores Electricity to Del Norte County

As a result of Pacific Power’s coordinated effort, all customers in Del Norte County now have access to running electricity. However, it’s worth noting that seven customers in the area have opted to use their own generators to supply power and have declined additional generator capacity offered by Pacific Power.

Allen Berreth, Vice President of Transmission and Distribution Operations at Pacific Power, expressed his appreciation for the hardworking crews responsible for this large restoration effort. He stated, “This has been an unprecedented effort to restore power to a community in the middle of a wildfire. This wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless work of our crews in the field. We remain committed to our customers in Del Norte County and to fully repairing and re-energizing our transmission lines that serve them.”

While the installed generators are currently providing power to Del Norte County, there remains a possibility of routine outages caused by interference with Pacific Power’s equipment from birds, animals, or vegetation. In the event of a generator failure, Pacific Power has contingency plans in place to restore power to affected customers. Customers who experience an outage are advised to contact Pacific Power Customer Service at 877-508-5088.

Due to the ongoing wildfire activity in the transmission corridor that serves Crescent City and its surrounding areas, it remains unsafe to re-energize the transmission line serving the city. Pacific Power continues to closely monitor all fire activity in the region and will re-energize the transmission lines when it is deemed safe to do so.
