Grants Pass, Oregon- The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the death of a 32-year-old individual, Zachary Dumont, who was found unresponsive in a single cell at the Josephine County Jail on May 3rd, 2024, at approximately 5:40 PM.
Upon discovery, medical assistance was administered by jail staff until emergency services from the Grants Pass Fire Department and AMR arrived to continue life-saving efforts. Despite the attempts, Dumont, a resident of Brookings, was pronounced deceased.
The incident is now under investigation by detectives from the Oregon State Police, who are working to determine the cause of death.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that no additional details will be disclosed at this time.
