Jackson County Search and Rescue Activated for Missing Ruch Man

Lake of the Woods– The Jackson County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) team is aiding the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office in efforts to locate Gerald Severson, a 56-year-old man from Ruch, Oregon, who went missing while mushroom hunting near Lake of the Woods in Klamath County.

Severson, described as a 5’4” tall, 140-pound white male with gray hair and blue eyes, was last seen on Thursday evening, May 2nd. He had departed from a cabin on the east side of Lake of the Woods around 7:00 PM to search for mushrooms. The SAR operation commenced on Friday, May 3rd at 1:00 PM, following the report of Severson’s disappearance.

Authorities have expressed particular concern due to the inclement weather conditions in the area, which could pose risks to both Severson and the search teams. The region where Severson was last seen is densely populated and traversed by several busy roads, raising the possibility that he may have been picked up by a passing motorist.

Anyone with information about Severson’s whereabouts is urged to immediately contact 911. The search for Severson continues as authorities work to ensure his safe return.
