Missing Man Found Buried on Josephine County Property Where Two Men Died

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. (Oct. 9, 2026) — Human remains identified as a missing 67-year-old Nevada man were discovered buried on a rural Josephine County property where two men were found dead following a shooting involving law enforcement, Oregon State Police said Friday.

Andrew Forrest Odom, 67, of Incline Village, Nevada, was reported missing to the Medford Police Department on Oct. 1.

Investigators determined Odom traveled from Carson City, Nevada, to Medford on Sept. 21. His last known whereabouts were in Josephine County on Sept. 22.

As the investigation expanded into Josephine County, authorities identified suspicious circumstances and transferred the case to Oregon State Police. The Josephine County Major Crime Team was also activated.

On Oct. 6, Oregon State Police detectives contacted a subject during a follow-up investigation in the 10,000 block of Williams Highway in rural Josephine County, according to authorities.

During the contact, the subject fled into a residence and fired shots at detectives. Tactical resources from the Grants Pass Police Department and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

After officers cleared the residence, they found two people dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The Medford Police Department led the investigation into the shooting.

The deceased were identified as Rick Odom, 73, and his son, Spencer Odom, 40. Authorities said Spencer Odom died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Rick Odom was the brother of Andrew Odom, who had been reported missing.

On Oct. 8, detectives, assisted by the Oregon State Police Crime Lab, located human remains buried on the property where the shooting occurred. The remains were identified as Andrew Odom.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details.

The Josephine County Major Crime Team includes members of the Oregon State Police, Grants Pass Police Department, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Josephine County District Attorney’s Office. The team is receiving assistance from the Medford Police Department and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.
