Heat Advisory Issued for Rogue Valley as Triple-Digit Temperatures Forecast

MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 12, 2026) — Temperatures across Southern Oregon are expected to soar into the triple digits beginning Sunday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Heat Advisory for Jackson and Josephine counties and parts of eastern Curry County.

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday through 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service office in Medford.

Forecasters said daytime highs between 94 and 104 degrees are expected during the three-day period, while overnight temperatures will offer limited relief, remaining between 60 and 65 degrees. Some of the region’s traditionally warmer locations could see nighttime lows remain in the upper 60s.

Communities included in the advisory area are Medford, Ashland, Eagle Point, Butte Falls, Shady Cove, Jacksonville, Applegate, Grants Pass, Merlin, Cave Junction, O’Brien and Agness.

The prolonged period of hot weather increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for older adults, young children, outdoor workers and those without access to air conditioning.

The National Weather Service urged residents to take precautions by drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned spaces when possible, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and checking on relatives and neighbors who may be vulnerable to the heat.

Officials also advised people to never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, where temperatures can rise rapidly to dangerous levels.

The upcoming stretch of heat marks a significant shift from the cooler and wetter conditions experienced across the region in recent days, with some inland valleys expected to experience their hottest temperatures of the year so far.
