Strong Winds Sweep Rogue Valley, High Wind and Airport Weather Warnings Issued

MEDFORD, Ore. (May. 25, 2026) — A wind advisory remains in effect across the Rogue Valley until 7 p.m. Monday, with forecasters warning of strong northwest winds capable of causing travel difficulties and isolated power outages.

The National Weather Service in Medford said winds between 15 and 25 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph in parts of the valley, including Medford, White City and Ashland. The advisory also covers portions of Interstate 5 from Rogue River south to Ashland.

Forecasters said the gusty conditions could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and may result in a few scattered power outages.

Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution due to the potential for sudden crosswinds along area highways.

In addition to the wind advisory, the National Weather Service issued an Airport Weather Warning for Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport. Officials said west-northwest wind gusts of around 35 knots are expected between approximately 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday.

The strongest winds are expected during the afternoon and early evening hours before conditions gradually improve later tonight.

UPDATE: A High Wind Warning has been issued for the Rogue Valley as forecasters warn of dangerous wind conditions through early Monday evening.

The National Weather Service in National Weather Service upgraded the area from a Wind Advisory to a High Wind Warning at 3:02 p.m. Monday, citing stronger-than-expected winds across the region.

The warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. PDT and includes Medford, Ashland and White City, as well as portions of Interstate 5 from Rogue River to Ashland.

Forecasters said west winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts reaching as high as 60 mph.

Officials warned that the strong winds could move loose debris, damage property and lead to isolated power outages. Travel conditions may also become hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles traveling along Interstate 5 and other exposed roadways.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, use caution while driving and remain alert for falling tree limbs or debris.

The warning is scheduled to expire at 7 p.m. Monday unless extended by forecasters.
