MEDFORD, Ore. (Apr. 16, 2026) — The Medford Urban Renewal Agency board has approved up to $500,000 to support an early feasibility analysis of a proposed baseball stadium, a project city leaders say could advance downtown revitalization and regional economic development.
The board, which is comprised of the Medford City Council, authorized the funding April 15 through Resolution 2026-007. The money will only be allocated if the city selects a qualified engineering and design firm through a formal request for proposals process and chooses to proceed with the study.
The total feasibility study budget is expected to reach $750,000, with a $250,000 matching contribution from Elmore Sports Group.
City officials emphasized that issuing the request for proposals does not commit the city or the urban renewal agency to spending funds. Financial support would be contingent on council approval following the selection of a firm.
If approved, the study would include preliminary engineering at the 10% design level, along with cost analysis and due diligence to evaluate whether the project is viable.
The analysis will focus on two potential sites: Hawthorne Park, identified as the preferred location within the urban renewal area due to its alignment with downtown revitalization goals, and Harry & David Field in south Medford, which has been identified as a potentially more cost-effective alternative.
The effort builds on recent action by the urban renewal agency to incorporate the stadium concept into the Center City Revitalization Plan. Officials said the results of the feasibility study will help determine next steps and whether the proposed stadium project should move forward.
