SW Medford to Get New Park as Part of New 487-Unit Subdivision

MEDFORD, Ore. (Feb. 27, 2026) — A new 8.27-acre neighborhood park is planned for southwest Medford after the Medford City Council on Feb. 18 approved the Addysen Park Development and Donation Agreement.

The park will be constructed between Dakota and Stewart avenues within a 487-unit subdivision in an area the city has identified as urbanizing and in need of additional open space. Developer Terry Buntin, doing business as Addysen Park LLC, will donate the parkland to the Medford Parks and Recreation Foundation, which will later transfer the property to the city.

Under the agreement, the park is intended to help meet open space requirements tied to residential growth in southwest Medford.

Initial amenities are scheduled for completion by June 30, 2027. Plans call for a playground, picnic shelter, restroom, dog park, safety lighting and a basketball court.

The city will reimburse Buntin up to $749,999 for labor and materials associated with constructing the initial improvements. The funds will be distributed through an escrow account.

Once construction is complete and the city formally accepts the park, it will purchase the property from the foundation for 5% of the appraised land value, excluding improvements. The land value is currently estimated at $55,000, according to city documents.

In addition to facilitating the land transfer, the Medford Parks and Recreation Foundation will contribute $33,000 toward widening Dakota Avenue to accommodate 19 on-street parking spaces adjacent to the park.

Future phases of development will depend on additional funding. Proposed amenities for later stages include a lighted walking path, a multi-purpose grass field, a splash pad and two pickleball courts.

City officials said the project is designed to expand recreational opportunities in southwest Medford as housing development continues in the area.
