MEDFORD, Ore. (Jan. 2, 2026) — A moderate wind advisory was issued for parts of Jackson County on Friday evening, with southeast winds expected to pose a possible threat to life or property, according to weather officials.
The advisory took effect at 9:06 p.m. and remains in place until 10 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters said southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected across the southern Rogue Valley, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph in lower elevations. In areas above 2,000 feet, wind gusts could climb as high as 55 mph.
The affected area includes southern portions of the Rogue Valley, encompassing Ashland, Talent, Phoenix and Medford, as well as sections of Interstate 5 running through the region.
Officials warned that the gusty conditions could blow around unsecured objects and may lead to isolated power outages. Residents and travelers are urged to take precautions and follow any pre-planned safety actions outlined by local authorities, particularly as the advisory carries an urgency to act within the next few hours.
The advisory applies to all of Jackson County, with conditions expected to gradually improve after the advisory expires late Saturday evening.
