Josephine County Sheriff’s Office to Bring Back 24/7 Coverage

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (Dec. 23, 2025) — The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said it will resume round-the-clock patrol operations later this month, marking a major expansion of law enforcement coverage made possible by voter-approved funding.

Sheriff Dave Daniel said the change follows the passage of a Law Enforcement Service District (LESD) by county voters in 2023, which was designed to provide stable funding and enhance patrol, dispatch and evidence services. The sheriff’s office said the hiring and training process has taken time due to the rigorous standards required in law enforcement.

Beginning Dec. 28, 2025, the sheriff’s office will provide 24-hour, seven-days-a-week patrol coverage — a level of service the agency has not consistently maintained for more than a decade, according to the department.

In addition to expanded patrol operations, the sheriff’s office reported several other staffing developments. Two school resource officers are now assigned to the Three Rivers School District. Seven newly hired deputies are currently in training, a process expected to continue for several months. Once those deputies complete training, two deputies will be promoted to major crimes detectives, restoring a division that has also not been consistently staffed in more than a decade, the office said.

Daniel credited county residents for approving the funding measure and said the sheriff’s office is now positioned to provide improved service across the county.

The sheriff’s office said it will continue operating under its guiding principle to “Protect With Courage and Serve With Compassion.”
